CNN Coverage of the First Night of the Gulf War

Background: In this clip from January 16, 1991, the night the Gulf War began, CNN anchor David French cut off his interview with former U.S. defense secretary Caspar Weinberger, to bring in correspondent Bernard Shaw in Baghdad. “Something is happening,” Shaw stated, as the “skies over Baghdad have been illuminated.” At the same time, you can see the production team at work on presenting this coverage. The clip of the production team comes from a behind-the-scenes CNN documentary that coincidentally was filmed the day the war began.
